A Career at the Intersection of Neuroscience and Innovation

Over the past few decades, psychiatry as a medical discipline has been transformed by expansive advances made in the neurosciences. It is an exciting time to be in the field of psychiatry — and Dr. DiFrancesco has been at the forefront of that transformation for over 30 years.

Her training was focused on the neurosciences and biological psychiatry in order to best understand brain function and to assess issues involving thought, feeling, and behavior — and to use this knowledge to treat mental illness and promote mental health.

She had the privilege of training with neuroimaging pioneers like Richard M. Pico at Mount Sinai and E. Roy John at NYU, learning to see the brain as a biological organ that can be understood and treated with precision. This foundation continues to inform her practice three decades later.

"It is an exciting time to be in the field of psychiatry. The neurosciences are giving us tools we never had before."

— Dr. Eileen DiFrancesco, MD

Dr. DiFrancesco practices on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where she provides comprehensive neurobiological assessments and evidence-based treatment for a wide range of psychiatric conditions — including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, eating disorders, sleep disorders, and addiction.

She is also actively investigating emerging peptide therapeutics that may revolutionize psychiatric treatment in the coming years, staying at the forefront of breakthrough discoveries just as she did with early brain mapping technologies.
